The two of the major functions of NCVET include:

  1. Recognition and regulation of Awarding Bodies (ABs) and Assessment Agencies(AAs)
  2. Approval of qualifications as per the NSQF (National Skills Qualification Framework)

Vocational Education Training & Skilling cuts across various departments/Ministries of the Government of India, and there are multiple schemes/programs which are run for the skilling of candidates by various ministries/departments.

For the government funded programs the alignment of the qualifications to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) is mandatory and in turn becoming a NCVET recognized Awarding Body which can run the NSQF aligned qualifications.

The central government institutions, including Ministries, Departments and Autonomous bodies shall also benefit from the multiple policies, regulations, frameworks that the national skilling regulator shall be bringing out from time to time for the overall benefir of the learner.
